We've Got The Power
(PowerPoint)
Kindergarten:
Kindergarten will be creating a PowerPoint presentation all about
Colors. They will be using a pre-defined template with color names and
will search for clip art to go with each color. In addition they will
need to type their name and their favorite color on to the appropriate
slides.
Kindergarten will also continue to use age appropriate software and
web sites including: Jumpstart Kindergarten, Thinking Things,
Mighty Math Carnival Countdown and www.starfall.com.
1st Grade:
1st Grade will be creating an All About Me PowerPoint
presentation using a predefined template with categories such as: My
Favorite Color Is, My Favorite Food Is, When I Grow Up I Want To Be,
etc. They will type in the appropriate answer for each category and
search for a clipart image to go with their answer.
1st Grade will also continue to use age appropriate software and
web sites including: Jumpstart 1st Grade, Mighty Math Zoo
Zillions and Mighty Math Carnival Countdown, Thinking
Things and www.starfall.com.
2nd Grade:
2nd Grade will be creating an All About Me PowerPoint
presentation using a predefined template with categories such as:
Favorite Color, Favorite Food, When I Grow Up I Want To Be, etc. They
will type in the appropriate answers for each category and search for
clipart images to go with their answer. 2nd Grade will also create a
background for their slideshow.
2nd Grade will also continue to use Jumpstart 2nd Grade.
3rd Grade:
As an introduction to PowerPoint, 3rd Grade will be creating a What
I Love presentation detailing at least 3 things that they love
including descriptions and clip art to go with each item. They will
also create a background for the presentation.
Following this, 3rd Grade will be be creating a Famous Americans
PowerPoint presentation using a pre-defined template with pictures of
each famous American they need to research. They will research these
at: www.whitehouse.gov/kids/presidents/
and need to include at least 3 facts about each president. This
presentation introduces Internet research and helps 3rd graders to
learn how to work with multiple windows open at the same time.
3rd Grade will also continue to use the program Jumpstart
3rd Grade.
4th Grade:
As an introduction to PowerPoint, 4th Grade will be creating a What
I Love presentation detailing at least 3 things that they love
including descriptions and clip art to go with each item. They will
also create a background for the presentation and can optionally add
transitions and animations to their presentation.
4th Grade will then create a presentation about California using
the 4th Grade: California Project.
This presentation emphasizes researching on the Internet, working with
multiple windows open, copying and pasting graphics from the Internet,
following step by step instructions and other computer and research
skills as well as helping 4th Grade become more familiar with
PowerPoint including animations and transitions.
5th Grade:
As an introduction to or review of PowerPoint, 5th Grade will be
creating a What I Love presentation detailing at least 3 things
that they love including descriptions and clip art to go with each
item. They will also create a background for the presentation and can
optionally add transitions and animations to their presentation.
5th Grade will then continue working with the M&M information
that they created during our Excel projects
using the Candy Analysis Project.
They will be creating an 8-slide PowerPoint presentation analyzing the
data that we collected and graph using Excel. This project requires
students to think about the information they collected and translate
it into a meaningful presentation which includes backgrounds,
graphics, animations and credits for all sources used.
Upon completion of the Candy Analysis
Project, 5th Graders can have some fun creating their very own
Flip Book Animation using
PowerPoint.
Middle School:
6th-8th Grade will continue working with the M&M information
that they created during our Excel projects
using the Candy Analysis Project.
They will be creating an 8-slide PowerPoint presentation analyzing the
data that we collected and graph using Excel. This project requires
students to think about the information they collected and translate
it into a meaningful presentation which includes backgrounds,
graphics, animations and credits for all sources used.
Upon completion of the Candy Analysis
Project, Middle Schoolers can have some fun creating their
very own Flip Book Animation
using PowerPoint.
Middle School students who went to Catalina for the first time will
submit their favorite memories of the trip for the yearbook using: Yearbook:
Catalina Memories.
