       | So,
you've finished up your poetry and you're
looking for something to do. Let's have a Voki read one of your poems!
What's a Voki? A Voki is a lifelike avatar that can also speak. That's
a sample Voki above. If you
have a recording of your own voice or a microphone hooked to the
computer you can give your Voki your own voice. We're not currently
set up to do that so we will use the text feature and choose a voice
for our Voki from the options available at Voki.com. Here's
          what you need to do:
Open your Poetry document and select one of your poems. Some
              hints on picking a poem:

                This
should be a fairly short poem since the amount of text you can
enter is limited. Your Haiku or your Acrostic poem (unless you have a long
name) might be good poems to use. You could use just a portion of a poem, for
example, one stanza of your free verse poem (if you did a free
verse poem), if you wish. If you use a portion of a poem, make
sure that it does not stop mid-sentence.Do not use poems that are inappropriate in any way or poems
that have your full name or the full name of any other St.
                  Martin's student.Head over to Voki.com
and click on the Get Started button.Customize your character. Select an avatar and choose color
options, clothing, bling, etc. You might want to choose an avatar
that enhances the theme of your poem but that is not required.Give it a voice - select the Text option (2nd from left) and
copy and paste your poem into the text box.

                Make sure that all of
the text is copied in since the site will truncate your text if it
is too long. Don't bother with a poem title and do not include
your full name!If you don't have punctuation in your poem, add
it into the pasted text or the avatar won't know where to pause.
If there are no pauses, your Voki will probably not be posted
on the site.Select a voice and add
any effects you like. USE ENGLISH ONLY. Test this out until you like the result.

If I can not understand your poem then your Voki will not be
posted on the site.Select a background and the player you prefer. Do not use
backgrounds that show alcohol or anything else inappropriate for
school.Click the Publish Button. In the Name Your Scene box, enter StM Your Grade Your
Computer Number (for example, if you are in 7th grade and sit at
computer 10, you would enter StM 7th 10). Select No Thanks in the You Just Created a Voki Character
              window. We are
not going to create accounts.Make sure the Medium Size option is selected and then copy the
code displayed in the For Most Sites Use This Code box by
clicking in the box and pressing CTRL+C. Fill out the following
form pasting the code in the Your Voki Code box and click
Send to email the code to me so that I can add your Voki to the
site.  Back to Computer Lab |
