Computer Lab

Is your computer organized?

1. Is there a folder with your name & grade on your computer?

   • If not, please create this folder under My Documents. If you don't know how to do this, .
   • If you have one but it doesn't contain both your name and grade please rename this folder so it is named Grade - Your Name.

2. Are all of your Word Documents in this folder?

   • Check under My Documents to see if any of your Word documents are there instead of in your folder.
   • Move any Word Documents not in your folder to your folder. if you need help moving the files.

3. Are all of your Word Documents named in a meaningful way? I need to be able to tell at a glance what your Word Document is about. For example, your comic strip document should be named Comic Strip or Comic and not something like aaaaaaa or document1 or anything else.

   • Rename any documents not correctly named. This means you'll need to open any documents that don't have meaningful names to figure out what they are.
   • Remove any duplicate or blank documents.

4. Are all of your Excel Workbooks in this folder?

   • Check under My Documents to see if any of your Excel Workbooks are there instead of in your folder.
   • Move any Excel Workbooks not in your folder to your folder.

5. Are all of your Excel Worksbooks named in a meaningful way? I need to be able to tell at a glance what your Excel Workbook is about. For example, your Candy Excel Project should be named Candy or M&M and not something like aaaaaaa or book1 or anything else.

   • Rename any workbooks not correctly named. This means you'll need to open any workbooks that don't have meaningful names to figure out what they are.
   • Remove any duplicate or blank workbooks.

6. Are all of your Powerpoint Presentations in this folder?

   • Check under My Documents to see if any of your Powerpoint Presentations are there instead of in your folder.
   • Move any Powerpoint Presentations not in your folder to your folder.

7. Are all of your Powerpoint Presentations named in a meaningful way? I need to be able to tell at a glance what your presentation is about. For example, your M&M Powerpoint should be named M&M or Candy or something similar and not something like aaaaaaa or anything else.

   • Rename any presentations not correctly named. This means you'll need to open any presentations that don't have meaningful names to figure out what they are.
   • Remove any duplicate or blank presentations.

8. Are all of the pictures that you have created or saved from the Internet in your folder?

   • Check under My Documents and My Documents / My Pictures to see if any of your pictures are located there instead of your folder.
   • Move any pictures not in your folder to your folder.

Remember: If I can't find your project then I can't know that you completed it and this could impact your grade.
