DAR Chapel

Each year the Daughters of the American Revolution sponsor an essay contest for students in grades 5-8. The theme for this year’s essay was “Young America Takes a Stand: The War of 1812″ and St. Martin’s 8th Grade students wrote and submitted essays for the contest. Representatives from the Don Jose De Ortega Chapter came to St. Martin’s to recognize St. Martin’s students for their participation. In addition, two students were rewarded as essay winners for the DAR Chapter. Congratulations to all.

Christmas at St. Martin’s

We hope that everyone had a truly wonderful Christmas with their families. As an after Christmas present to you, we would like to share some moments from our K-8 Christmas Concert, The Sounds of Christmas:

We want to again thank everyone who helped to make the Christmas season at St. Martin’s so wonderful this year. Special thanks go out to:

  • The Edward Lozano family and Gavotto family for their efforts and enthusiasm in helping to organize St. Martin’s participation in the Granada Hills Christmas Parade.
  • Mrs. Laura Hernadez and Mrs. Ellen Bobertz for their help with Santa’s Secret Shop.
  • Mrs. Haller, Mrs. Slusser, all the bakers, and the Gavotto family for all of their help with the Christmas Concert.
  • Everyone who contributed to our gift drive for Hillsides Home for Abused and Neglected Children.
  • Parishioners of St. Martin’s Church for their donation of free childcare for St. Martin’s families on December 18th.
