Middle School Catalina

Friday, February 3rd Update:

Another week at C.I.M.I. is coming to an end and we are thankful that the weather has been good and everyone has been healthy. This morning we’ll be doing some rock climbing on the Climbing Wall before we leave Catalina at noon. If all goes according to schedule, we should be setting off for St. Martin’s from Long Beach around 2pm and anticipate arriving back at school sometime between 4 and 5 pm. Please call the office to check on our expected arrival time.

Thursday, February 2nd Update:

Our last full day at C.I.M.I. started off this morning with Oceanography, Plankton & Invertebrates Labs. This afternoon we’re looking forward to trying our hand at some Beach Art. Tonight we’ll have a campfire on the beach.

Wednesday, February 1st Update:

We didn’t have any of the weather problems of previous years and were able to enjoy our all day kayak followed by the Marine Mammals program at night.

Tuesday, January 31st Update:

Everyone is doing well and enjoyed starting the day off with another hike and then it was algae, fish & shark lab time! Tonight will be the popular Creatures of the Night activity.

Monday, January 30th: Update from Mrs. H

We  arrived at Catalina Island Marine Institute after a beautiful trip over with calm seas and thankfully no one got seasick. We even saw 7-8 humpback whales on the trip over. This afternoon we will be Snorkeling and then it’s on to the Astronomy Night Hike tonight. Wow, what a busy day!
