As We Welcome November

October was a busy month! Our Blessing of the Animals service was delightful thanks to Fr. Gabri and Chaplain David, and we would like to thank everyone who attended for making it such a special event. The children enjoyed the performance by Theodicy jazz group and our thanks to everyone who came to the wonderful Kiki Ebsen benefit concert for the school.

The Fall Fundraiser was a great success – we reached the school goal and the whole school enjoyed the popcorn and pig races party, as well as many other fun FFR events. Our sincere thanks to our PFA President for organizing this fundraiser, all the volunteers who helped, and of course everyone who purchased items or made donations. Profits from the Fall Fundraiser and other PFA fundraisers go towards field trips such as those the children enjoyed in October and we thank everyone who was a chaperone and/or driver on these trips. Thank you also to everyone who ordered cookie dough – this is scheduled for delivery on Thursday, November 19.

Halloween was enjoyed by the children and we are so grateful to our terrific Room Parents for organizing the parties after the parade. Sincere thanks for the wonderful pumpkin patch – it was awesome and the children loved choosing their pumpkins! Please remember to bring in any Halloween candy you have left over by November 6th and we will pass it to Operation Gratitude to send to the troops.

October was busy but we’re not slowing down anytime soon!

  • Our Middle School Girls Basketball team has made us proud and the girls have reached the league play-offs. The first play-off game is this Thursday, November 5th, at 3:30pm here at St. Martin’s. Go Bulldogs!
  • Our Book Fair started this week and will run through Sunday, November 8th.
  • Wednesday, November 4th – Our annual Veterans Service to honor the veterans in our community. Please join us at 8:30am in the Church and invite any veterans that you know.
  • Sunday, November 8th – Join us at 10am in the Church for St. Martin’s Patronal Feast Day. Our  Middle School students will narrate scenes about the works of St. Martin, acted out by students in 1st-5th grade. Kindergarten-5th grade students will perform a special song and the Middle School handbell group, will also perform. We will again be offering tacos for lunch following the service. Please return the order form to the office by Thursday, November 5th at 3pm, so we can plan appropriately.
  • Wednesday, November 11th – School will be closed in honor of Veterans Day
  • Tuesday, November 24th – All School Thanksgiving Chapel at 8:30am, which all are welcome to attend, followed by Friendship Breakfast.
  • November 25th-27 – School will be closed for our Thanksgiving holiday.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for December 17th at 7pm for our K-8th Christmas program and December 18th at 9am for our Preschool Christmas program! We will again be collecting gifts for the children at Hillsides Home for Abused and Neglected Children this year. If you are shopping at the Book Fair or shopping over the Thanksgiving holiday, perhaps you could find it in your hearts to purchase something for these children who very much need to know we care about them.

As Thanksgiving approaches, please know that we are so thankful for our students and their families, our staff, everyone at St. Martin’s Church, and friends of St. Martin’s near and far. You are all such a blessing to our school!
